Welcome to first grade!I am Jeri Keck and I will be your child’s first grade teacher this year. This will be my 19th year of teaching in the classroom. I have been with the Francis Howell School District for 11 years. Prior to Francis Howell I taught 4 years of fifth grade and 1 year of second for the Hazelwood School District.I then took several years off to be with my children at which time a day care had ask if I would direct one of their centers. I did that for approximately one year when I realized I needed to be back in the classroom closer to thes tudents. So I then taught for Pattonville for 3 years, 1 year of first grade and 2 years of second and third grade reading. I have worked with children in some capacity since high school and while obtaining my degree in Elementary Education.
I have been happily married to my husband for 15 years. We have four children, Chris 29, Amie 27, Brittany 25, Zachary 21, and one grandchild, 22 months. I enjoy traveling, doing crossword/number puzzles, and spending time with my family and friends.
As an educator, I feel that first grade is an important year in the education of your child, as it lays the foundation for attitudes and beliefs toward school for many years to come. Building literacy and math skills will be our main focus this year. I will do my best to provide your child with an enriching, positive, and safe environment that will foster growth and learning.
As a parent, I strongly believe in the importance of open communication between home and school along with a strong parental involvement with a child’s education. With both of us working together this year, I believe we can be sure your child will enjoy a productive year in first grade. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.
