It is one of the missions of Warren Elementary to develop the leadership ability of their students. One great way Warren showcases those talents is during their annual Leadership Day, the third annual event was held on Feb. 22. Parents, family, and community members attended to see the kind of leaders Warren is developing.
The school even has leadership as part of their motto, “At Warren Elementary, we are learners and leaders for life.” Leadership is way more than a buzz word in education, it’s a way of life, and the Warren gymnasium was full of those eager to learn about what our future leaders look like. This year’s theme was camping, complete with lanterns, tents, and Warren Wolves. The main lobby’s decorations alone were worth the visit. Students offered testimonials to help guests learn about the leadership roles they are taking on at Warren, such as the Greeter Leaders, the Melody Makers, and the Shutterbugs.
Each group has their role, and each was able to showcase their burgeoning skills to the attendees. The Melody Makers sang some songs to brighten the day, all the while helping further explain the leadership lessons they are acquiring. Then the Greeter Leaders led the attendees to classrooms, where stations were set up to show more about what the kids are learning about leadership. The Shutterbugs, a yearbook group, were floating around to the different classrooms to document the day through pictures. It was a great example of the Warren family coming together to model and demonstrate leadership.
